COP on the Hill:
Stories from the week of June 16, 2017

Felt real good: Have you ever wanted to tell a politician what a muffin head he is on an issue? As the House Members were leaving a hearing, I asked Cman Carter (R-TX & former judge) to let me walk with him. He agreed. After I said that LEAP members believe that, “if you have a drug problem, see a doctor;” he snorted, “You want to legalize all drugs, right??!!” Yes, I replied.
There was another minute of banter, and I said, ‘as pedophiles are going after my grandkids, you want the police to chase Willie Nelson. Why?’ At that, he shouted had put hundreds of them-pedophiles in prison and we parted our ways. My first sharp exchange since my arrival…Felt good actually.

Enjoy oneself and politic – Congressional Baseball Game: at 5PM we met at the Republican watering hole (Capitol Club). The tickets were good for a pre-game Happy Hour, bus ride and entrance to the ballpark. I was dressed for comfort (shorts & t-shirt). 5 hours later a solid 50 Congressmen/Senators had read the message in a relaxed atmosphere. ….any many hundreds of Republican spectators.

Don Murphy bought the tickets and urged all in reform to go. Some did. Thank you Don.

Detroit News published an oped on the game/shooting. The Shirt was in the foto! Woohoo:

Caution: A colleague this week expressed support for an oped which declared that ending the prohibition on hard drugs would be a disaster for the country. I was a bit shocked.
After the prohibition of marijuana is over and you believe that the remaining drugs should also be legalized & regulated, be careful to know the mission statement of organizations you support.

* Consider being a member of COP at $30.00 or more per year. All contributions are tax-deductible. 30 dollars buys all the copy paper COP uses in one year. Law Enforcement’s voice in opposition to current policy is vital on the Hill to achieve a repeal of federal prohibition. COP provides that voice. www.citizensopposingprohibition.org
